Significant Breakthrough in Oxymat’s R&D Department: 13% Lower Air Consumption on Oxygen Generators
by Jesper Sjögren, CEO of Oxymat DK
Oxymat has a very clear environmental vision. We want to be known as the PSA manufacturer with lowest CO2 emission. And we want to offer solutions to the market that are competitive in pricing with all other high quality PSA manufacturers.
On August 11th 2011 we finalized the obligatory 24 hours tests for a new setup on our oxygen generators, and the result is crystal clear, we can lower energy consumption with minimum another 13% for our 4 bar outlet generator program.
We can in future offer PSA systems with minimum 94% purity, with an air factor below 10 (measured in Sm3/h of oxygen and free air delivery as defined in Atlas Copco program). The average Air Factor in our existing program is 11,3 at 94% purity. The new low air factor will position Oxymat as the only manufacturer of low CO2 emission Oxygen Generators.
The new program will be implemented partly from January 2012.
During 2012 it is our intension to get through an upgrade of the entire program of Oxygen Generators.
Environmental policy is not only about power consumption of our PSA systems, it will also address other environmental aspects therefore Oxymat is changing the following on our PSA system:
- Water based painting is already implemented since early 2011
- Filters will be changed from the current steel body (that contains the filter element) to paper based filter elements, changing will take place late 2011
- Noise level is addressed; we want to meet a 75 dB max figure for a full PSA system including compressors, and we have already changed silencers on a number of systems with significant lower noise emission
-
Reduced use of materials will be implemented along with the new program as most of our generators will increase performance.
Oxymat is an open minded company, and we welcome any suggestions from our partners and end users around the world. Please e-mail suggestions to js@oxymat.com.
Oxymat Provides Safe Solution at Van Glas Company in Amsterdam
by Mr. Johan Theunissen, General Manager ISPS BV & Adrian Kucharek, Oxymat Sales Manager
Mr. Dieperink has more than 40 years of experience in the art of making beautiful and creative products in
glass. He has his own company Van Glas in Amsterdam and besides special artistic custom designed products he also conducts workshops for groups in working with glass.
Work with glass requires heat to bring glass in a half fluid state so that it can be shaped. This heat is produced with a burner using a gas and oxygen. Till this March oxygen cylinders were supplied via the local bulk supplier. There were problems with the supplies because Van Glas only needed a few oxygen cylinders per week and due to the traffic situation in a city like Amsterdam, the delivery times went up and delivery costs became significant. On top of this the local legislation changed and consequently only a maximum of 2 cylinders is allowed to avoid the impact of a fire and explosions. Basically the fire department does not want oxygen cylinders in city centers.
Van Glas decided to look for a permanent solution. He analyzed the market for oxygen generators and decided to buy a system from Oxymat representative ISPS BV. Partner in close cooperation with Oxymat sales determined the required capacity and offered model O40ECO.
The system has been commissioned in March 2011 and the customer is delighted with it. Later he had a workshop with 15 persons and this time no worries about the oxygen supply. He has enough oxygen to cover his company activities and to keep his artist work going.
This solution is a clear example about how Oxymat oxygen generators create solutions where bulk oxygen cylinders have become unacceptable because of safety issues in populated areas.
